MEET JOHN

Born and raised in Jackson Mississippi. Attended Madison Ridgeland Academy and went on to become a fighting Tiger from LSU where he graduated in business. John met his wife Karen of 38 years while actively involved in Campus Crusade for Christ on the LSU campus. John and Karen were married in 1983 and attended Dallas Theological Seminary from 1984-1988.

One of his claims to fame is that he preached his first post seminary sermon in front of Warren Weirsbe at his first pastorate in Lincoln Berean Church in Lincoln, NE. Over the last 30+ years of ministry, John has played many different roles from planting churches, to Senior Pastor of a smaller church in Baton Rouge, La and served in mega-churches as well. John has been an adjunct professor in Bible and Theology at Southeastern University Satellite campus in Jacksonville for 5+ years.

John recently received his doctorate in New Testament Context studying under Dr. Scot McKnight. His doctoral work focused on the kingdom of God in Paul’s gospel (Acts 28:30-31) John also pioneered a school of theology called Awakening School of Theology aside the late Dr. Michael Heiser, he also served for a time as the Dean of the school. Presently John is writing, podcasting and spending quality time with his family.
